A SUMMARY OF THE TRAINING
3:13 Strategy #1 (approximately 5 minutes) First Impressions Matter
- Pull up a lesson you have created and take an objective look at how it makes you feel visually. What can you do to break out and break up the material to make it less overwhelming and provide more direction / context?
- OR. Think of a lesson you are planning. How can you break out the material so that you combat overwhelm and provide direction / context.
8:39 Strategy #2 (approximately 3 minutes) Types of Media / Content
- Take an analysis of one of your modules. How often are you using video / text / audio / outside resources / etc? Where are one or two places that you could add a variety of elements?
- OR. Think of a lesson you are planning. How can you challenge yourself to use a variety of media types in that lesson?
11:40 Strategy #3 (approximately 4 minutes) Visual Representations
- Find 2-3 places in your current course that you can pull out a visual representation (graphic, metaphor, etc.)
- Look ahead at the lessons you are planning. What graphs or images can you pull from your teaching content that contribute the value of what you are teaching?
15:36 Strategy #4 (approximately 3 minutes) Provide Clear Direction
- Make an analysis on the last slide deck you designed. How did you use visuals to help create a structure that people can follow along with?
- Which strategy (using colors, using shapes, using graphics) do you feel like will be the easiest for you to intentionally integrate?
18:15 Strategy #5 (approximately 3 minutes): White Space Awareness
- Where in your training content or lessons do you need to add some whitespace to reduce the mental overwhelm?
